Scope

This Privacy Policy describes the data practices of the public HotshotSmartStart.net website. Hotshot Smart Start may reference or link to RPM Guard, but this policy does not attempt to describe all data practices of the separate RPM Guard application.

Information Collected

The public HotshotSmartStart.net website does not currently require users to create an HSS website account to use its educational pages and public calculators.

We collect information only when you voluntarily provide it, such as when you submit a Support request, or when standard website technologies collect information automatically as part of operating the site.

Public Calculators & Browser Storage

The public calculators on HotshotSmartStart.net process calculator inputs in your browser. Based on the current implementation, those calculator inputs are not submitted to the HSS server or database as part of the calculation and are not sent to Google Analytics as calculator values.

Some calculator settings or values may be stored locally in your browser to preserve selections or support website functionality. This can include items such as your HSS Hard Floor result, equipment selection, and temporary monthly household-related values used to support the calculator flow. This browser-stored information remains on your device/browser unless it is cleared, overwritten, or otherwise removed by the browser or website functionality.

Analytics

HotshotSmartStart.net uses Google Analytics to understand website traffic and usage. Google Analytics may collect information such as page visits and views, engagement, traffic and referral sources, browser and device information, approximate geographic information, and similar website usage information provided through the analytics service.

The technical audit of the current website implementation found no code sending HSS calculator input values to Google Analytics.

Cookies & Similar Technologies

Google Analytics may place or use cookies or similar technologies to measure site usage. These analytics technologies are different from the browser/local storage used by HSS for calculator settings and selections.

You can manage cookies and similar technologies through your browser settings. HSS does not currently use advertising cookies or targeted advertising pixels based on the current implementation.

Support Requests

When you submit a Support request, you may provide your email address, a support category, a support message, and an optional screenshot or attachment. To help diagnose the request, we may also collect device/browser information and page or referring-page information.

This information is used to respond to and troubleshoot your Support request. Please do not include passwords, financial account credentials, Social Security numbers, or other unnecessary sensitive information in Support messages or screenshots.

How Information Is Used

We use the information we collect to operate and improve the website, respond to Support requests, understand how visitors use the site, and maintain business records.

Third-Party Service Providers & Links

Hotshot Smart Start uses Resend as an email service provider to transmit Support communications. Information included in a Support request may therefore be processed by Resend as necessary to deliver those communications. Third-party providers process information according to their own terms and privacy practices.

HSS may link to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.

Data Retention

Support communications may be retained as reasonably necessary to respond to requests, maintain business records, troubleshoot issues, or meet applicable legal obligations.

Analytics data and browser-stored information are retained according to the practices of the applicable third-party services and your browser settings.

Data Sale / Advertising

Hotshot Smart Start does not sell personal information collected through the public HSS website. The current website implementation does not use advertising pixels or send calculator inputs to advertising networks for targeted advertising.

Trip Sheet & Downloaded Files

Downloading the HSS Trip Sheet requires the website to deliver the file to your device. Information you later enter into the downloaded Excel file locally is not transmitted back to Hotshot Smart Start by the spreadsheet itself. Your own device, spreadsheet software, or cloud storage may have separate data practices.

Security

Hotshot Smart Start uses reasonable technical and operational measures intended to protect information handled through the website. However, no website, internet transmission, email service, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Your Choices

You have practical choices about your information. You can clear locally stored website data through your browser settings, control or delete cookies through your browser, choose whether to submit a Support request or optional screenshot, and use browser or Google-provided mechanisms to manage analytics-related technologies where available.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our website or practices change. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
